Relying on a process initiated at the end of the nineties, which is based on the observation of the plant kingdom, and its imaginary transposition within a digital universe, Miguel Chevalier has created various herbariums made up of virtual seeds with artificial life.
"Celestia Flora Astralis" is a virtual seed extracted from the "Fractal Flowers" virtual herbarium. This virtual seed presents a nature going out of the botanical classifications, at the edge of four worlds: vegetable, mineral, animal and robotic. Flowers born of digital germination show incredible forms, undulating in a virtual wind we can't feel, before disappearing before our eyes to make way for others. The flowers are both monumental in their geometric forms and evanescent when, in a few seconds, they evaporate into thin air. These living paintings exert an unsettling fascination on the viewer. These works hypnotize the eye in a dazzling dialectic between the real and the virtual.
