Card size: 24 x 33cm; 9 1/2 x 13 inches
Executed in 1965 in three editions of ten examples each; This work most likely relates to the third edition.
Man Ray chooses a title that rhymes with papier de verre (sandpaper) alluding to the medium of the present work and étoile de mer (starfish), the latter being the title of Man Ray's third film made in 1928 and a nod to the maritime subject matter of this landscape.
