WALTER LEBLANC: WORKS ON PAPER AND SCULPTURES FROM 1963 - 1985

Outside the artist's mind, the impact of Walter Leblanc's preparatory work had never been recognised for its intrinsic value by the art world until presented for the first time in the exhibition at the Musées royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique à Bruxelles in spring 2011. The sketches, studies and preliminary projects for his canvases and sculptures revealed the course of ideas received or developed throughout his career. Created as aide-memoires, they are at the base of his structural alphabet, schematic, visual, formal, serial and linear.
